Designing Evidence-Based Strategies For Successful Parent/Teacher Conferences That Create Partnerships (ESSA)

Effective communication is key to making it easier for over-burdened and under-resourced teachers and over-whelmed and intimidated families to work together on behalf of all students. This session will tap into the different strengths educators and families can contribute to building a strong partnership.  The session will focus on  effective school/parent contacts to create opportunities for families sharing in the responsibility of student learning?  Evidence-based strategies for how educators can build effective partnerships with parents—especially those who typically have not been actively involved in their children's schooling will be included.  Teachers will examine means of developing relationships with parents to improve skills they can use to support the education of their children, monitor their progress, and advocate for them.
