Literacy Rising: Literacy Strategies for Content Area Teachers (6-12)

When instructional forces combine, students succeed!  In this engaging one-day training participants will learn strategies for combining literacy practices into their content-area.  Sessions will include strategies for leveling up students writing, new ideas for incorporating word walls and anchors charts into content-area classrooms, and how to provide interventions to adolescents. 

Targeted Participants:  6-12 teachers, SPED teachers, literacy coaches, uncertified staff serving 6-12 grade classrooms.

You will be provided approximately an hour to have lunch with your training colleagues on your own.  Information on convenient local eateries will be provided at the training.

Miss. Const. Art. 4, Section 66 Eligible attendees for this training includes teachers, counselors, and administrators who are employed by a school district or MDE. Unless specifically noted otherwise, external contractors or vendors may not attend. This event is being funded with state and/or federal funds and is being provided for employees of school districts, employees of the Mississippi Department of Education and Department contractors. Miss. Const. Art. 4, Section 66 prohibits governing authorities from making donations. According to the Mississippi Attorney General, once the federal funds are turned over to the state, the rules for the expenditure of state funds apply. Based on the Mississippi law, this event is not being provided for third party vendors or external providers.
