Kindergarten Academy

The Graduate Center for the Study of Early Learning and the North MS Education Consortium are sponsoring a Kindergarten Academy on June 8-10, 2021.

The virtual sessions begin at 9 AM and conclude at 4 PM with an hour for lunch.

The sessions will highlight ideas and strategies for welcoming children into school after this past school year of uncertainty and anxiety as well as dedicated sessions on how to use science, social studies and math to teach reading and language arts. The Office of Early Childhood at the Mississippi Department of Education will present strategies for teaching math skills. Attendance will be taken and 1.8 CEUs awarded  as well as professional development hours. This is limited to kindergarten teachers, assistant teachers and school administrators. Total registration number 300.

Miss. Const. Art. 4, Section 66 Eligible attendees for this training includes teachers, counselors, and administrators who are employed by a school district or MDE. Unless specifically noted otherwise, external contractors or vendors may not attend. This event is being funded with state and/or federal funds and is being provided for employees of school districts, employees of the Mississippi Department of Education and Department contractors. Miss. Const. Art. 4, Section 66 prohibits governing authorities from making donations. According to the Mississippi Attorney General, once the federal funds are turned over to the state, the rules for the expenditure of state funds apply. Based on the Mississippi law, this event is not being provided for third party vendors or external providers.
