AIM Pathways

For Teachers --AIM Pathways to Proficient Reading Cohort 24- Rankin County

Pathways to Proficient Reading is an IDA-accredited foundational course in the science of reading, designed for educators committed to learning about the connection between reading research, theoretical models such as the Simple View of Reading and Scarborough’s Reading Rope, and best practices for language and literacy instruction in the classroom.

Commitment Includes:

  • Completion of asynchronous pre-knowledge inventory
  • Completion of 14 asynchronous learning sections (with 2 additional optional sections)
  • Attendance and Participation required at two daylong in-person training sessions (November 2024 and February 2025)
  •  Participation in two, 60-minute virtual, synchronous coaching Community of Practice sessions 
  • Completion of post-knowledge inventory
  • 12-Month access to the AIM Pathways Platform - so materials can be reviewed, applied and accessed in the classroom when needed. Course Syllabus
  • Training sequence ( Asynchronous- self-paced course in fall, 1 Community of Practice session in fall, 1 face to face session in fall, Asynchronous -self-paced course in spring, 1 Community of Practice session in spring, 1 face to face in spring.  CEUs can be awarded after the completion of this training sequence.

  •  To ensure training commitment and completion, if participants sign up and do not complete the course, the district may be responsible for the reimbursement of those participants ($750 per participant) or participants may not be able to participate in the future. 


You will be provided approximately an hour to have lunch with your training colleagues on your own.  Information on convenient local eateries will be provided at the training.

Attendance Clause
Miss. Const. Art. 4, Section 66 Eligible attendees for this training includes teachers, counselors, and administrators who are employed by a school district or MDE. Unless specifically noted otherwise, external contractors or vendors may not attend. This event is being funded with state and/or federal funds and is being provided for employees of school districts, employees of the Mississippi Department of Education and Department contractors. Miss. Const. Art. 4, Section 66 prohibits governing authorities from making donations. According to the Mississippi Attorney General, once the federal funds are turned over to the state, the rules for the expenditure of state funds apply. Based on the Mississippi law, this event is not being provided for third party vendors or external providers.
