For the Love of Math: Creating Critical Connections
For the Love of Math
Have you ever heard someone say something along the lines of “I hate math”, “Math was never my strong suit”, or even “I’m just not a math person”? It may have been a student, a parent, a colleague, or even yourself who shared these sentiments. But why? Perhaps negative experiences with memorizing meaningless formulas, rules, or steps and completing a page full of practice problems that had little-to-no connection to our lives fueled such a dislike for learning mathematics.
Understanding connections between mathematical concepts & skills, across topics and grade levels, among different representations, and to real-world applications are crucial for developing a love for math. The North Mississippi Education Consortium is excited to announce a one-day conference for anyone who desires to create critical connections for the love of math!
The North Mississippi Education Consortium is thrilled to offer a one-day conference for K-12 math teachers, math coaches, and administrators with strategies and tools to help students work through their frustrations and develop a new love of math.
