Teacher Effectiveness for Teacher Assistants

Teacher Effectiveness for Teacher Assistants

Teacher Assistants can make a real difference in the classroom.  There Is no shortage of research into Teacher Assistants impact on students.  Classroom teachers reported more positive effects, saying that TAs helped to reduce stress, workload, and disruption in class.  TAs work with individual pupils, small groups, and pupils with special needs.  Many cover classes and work with teachers in classrooms delivering subject-specific work.  Some TAs carry out planning, preparation, and assessments.  School leaders depend upon TAs to support teachers with preparation, displays, and classroom management. We are offerring training for teacher assistants to support this learning process in the classrooms.

During the training, participants will:

  •  Identify strategies that will utilize assistant teachers to support classroom teachers.   Teacher assistants will review the observation process and participate in activities that will lead to an understanding of what teachers should know and be able to do to improve student learning.
  •  Utilize instructional strategies to guide conversations with educators to develop a deeper understanding of the teaching standards leading to improved teaching practices.
  •  Explore the factors that impact and support the effective design, implementation and sustainability of Professional Learning Communities focused on teacher assistants.
  •  Investigate critical questions that shape student learning during Professional Learning Community training sessions for teacher assistants.

Lunch is not included in the cost of the course.
