AIM Pathways
The Mississippi Department of Education’s Office of Elementary Education and Reading, Division of Literacy, is announcing an opportunity for first year teachers who have not successfully completed the Reading Foundations test and/or Pre-Service teachers to participate in an asynchronous training course titled Pathways to Proficient Reading- Educator Preparation. Each session will be engaging and applicable to all areas of literacy. This training will support first year teachers and future educators in furthering their ability to apply the Science of Reading, while supporting Mississippi's mission to prepare students to compete in a global community.
The start and completion of the course will occur asynchronously with six 1-hour Virtual Community of Practice meetings with an AIM supervisor.
Tentative Dates for these Virtual Community of Practice (VCoP) Meetings are:
VCoP #1 Wednesday, February 19, 2025 3:45 - 4:45
VCoP #2 Wednesday, March 19, 2025 3:45 - 4:45
VCoP #3 Wednesday, April 2, 2025 3:45 - 4:45

VCoP #5 Wednesday, May 7, 2025 3:45 - 4:45
VCoP #6 Wednesday, June 4, 2025 3:45 - 4:45
Once participants gain access to the AIM Pathways platform and complete their asynchronous tasks, they will have access to the coursework at their convenience—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, anywhere there is an internet connection.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION The overall course grade is calculated based on two key components: 1) 80% from the average of your section scores, and 2) 20% from the post-knowledge inventory score. The weighted average from these two components must be at least 80% to pass this course. A certificate completion is available under “Transcripts” for all those who pass the course. If, after completing the course, you retake any graded quizzes and score higher on your second attempt than your first, the system will immediately update your overall course grade and certificate of complete. Remember, you must review recommended materials prior to taking your second and fin attempt on a graded quiz, and you are encouraged to ask your facilitator any outstanding questions at community-of-practice meetings and weekly office hours. In addition, please be mindful that if you intend to continue your professional learning journey and take AIM Pathways to Structured Literacy, you will be required to have a minimum course average of at least 80%.
