AIM Pathways to Proficient Reading for Secondary
This workshop is for a specific group of participants chosen by MDE.
Pathways to Proficient Reading for Secondary Educators is a course made up of asynchronous coursework and 6 one-hour synchronous virtual community of practice meetings focused on classroom application of evidence-based instructional strategies, especially for middle and high school students. This is designed for secondary educators committed to learning about the connection between reading research, theoretical models such as the Simple View of Reading and Scarborough's Reading Rope, and evidence-based practices that will benefit all students, including linguistically diverse populations and those with or at risk for language-based learning disabilities. The course will end in September 2024.
Commitment includes:
Completion of asynchronous pre-knowledge inventory
Completion of asynchronous learning sections
Participation in six, 60-minute synchronous coaching community of practice sessions where you will work on a Literacy Plan for your organization.
Completion of pre and post-knowledge inventories
- 12-Month Access to the AIM Pathways Platform so materials can be reviewed, applied and accessed in the classroom when needed

| Miss. Const. Art. 4, Section 66 | Eligible attendees for this training includes teachers, counselors, and administrators who are employed by a school district or MDE. Unless specifically noted otherwise, external contractors or vendors may not attend. This event is being funded with state and/or federal funds and is being provided for employees of school districts, employees of the Mississippi Department of Education and Department contractors. Miss. Const. Art. 4, Section 66 prohibits governing authorities from making donations. According to the Mississippi Attorney General, once the federal funds are turned over to the state, the rules for the expenditure of state funds apply. Based on the Mississippi law, this event is not being provided for third party vendors or external providers. |
