Counselor Collaborative: Support for Counselors as Key to Supporting Students and Staff as Well as Accelerating Student Learning
The Counselor Collaborative is designed to increase the capacity of school counselors as well as school/ district leaders, behavior interventionists, or social workers to improve practices that will lead to higher performance by all students.
Participants from nearby districts will share in professional learning and sharing with one another strategies, programs, and best practices to:
1) Addressing Student Behavior by Identifying underlying causes of challenging behaviors; Strategies for positive behavior support and intervention; and Collaboration with teachers and families for student success
2) Techniques for conflict resolution and relationship building
3) Share strategies regarding the counselor’s role in Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 (Attendance, Behavior, Academic)
4) Assisting to develop a School Culture with common values and common language.
5) Supporting our students through a Trauma-informed lens (recognizing that students often have many different types of trauma in their lives i.e. physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, bullying) so we minimize the effects of trauma in the learning environment
6) Engage the Unmotivated Student facing challenging circumstances and provide strategies that give hope for their success
7) Restorative Justice: Understanding the principles of restorative justice as well as Implementing restorative practices to improve school climate
8) Supporting Students through Grief and Loss (Academic responses; Behavioral responses; Emotional responses: Social responses: and Physical responses to grief and strategies to support)
9) Counselor goals and data talk with School Leadership in how their counselor work supports School Goals.
10) Ethics and current legal standards affecting school counselors while navigating confidentiality and student rights
Dates for Oxford NMEC Insight Park Cohort:

· Half Days 2, 4, & 6
8:00 – 12:00 -- October 28, December 9, February 2025
Possible Dates for Off Sight Cohort TBD by the participating districts as well as a central site chosen.
