Empowering Educators: Crafting Professional Development Plans That Work

The MDE’s Office of Professional Development is excited to announce this opportunity for K-12 district teams—a 2-day, in-person workshop that will highlight the steps involved in creating professional development plans that build teacher capacity and improve student outcomes.

In breakout sessions, participants will delve deeply into the process of crafting professional learning plans that work: 1) analyzing student learning needs; 2) identifying characteristics of the state, school system, school department, and educators; 3) developing improvement goals and student outcomes; 4) identifying educator needs and goals; 5) studying research and evidence for guidance about professional learning; 6) planning professional learning implementation and evaluation; and 7) implementing, evaluating, and sustaining professional learning. During Team Time, district teams will use their own data to begin creating a professional development plan specific to their needs.

*This workshop is intended for district teams that include the superintendent, central office staff, principals, curriculum coordinators, professional development coordinators, and/or lead teachers. Participants are advised to bring note-taking materials and a laptop.
