FORTified: A Foundations of Reading Test Bootcamp
This focused session prepares both pre-service and emergency-certified educators for the Foundations of Reading Test by concentrating on two major components of the exam. Participants will examine Foundations of Reading Development—including phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, syllabication, phonics, and fluency—which accounts for about 35% of the test. The session will also provide a clear framework and strategies for successfully responding to the two open-response (essay) items, which make up 20% of the exam. Teachers will leave with the confidence and key strategies for passing this exam.
*Teachers who have already taken this test, but did not receive a passing score are encouraged to share their score reports with Dr. Livingston at kdard@olemiss.edu so she can help narrow the focus where needed.
